Losing HP?

I bought a "new" 03 Evo a month ago - 2k miles, babied it through the break-in, and haven't driven it really hard ever since.

Here's my question - I have no boost guage, but I swear to God, I feel the turbo spool up and the boost kick in at just above 3k... and through 5k it's sweet - but it kind of peaks there - 5k to 7k it seems ... blah. I had a kid in a WRX (not an STI) pull on me on the freeway the other day, for the love of God.

After 1k, it pushed me back in the seat when I did redline it, all the way through - is it the hot weather in Florida, no cold air? Or is something wrong with my turbo?
Or am I just getting used to it?

The butt-dyno says it just doesn't feel as fast, especially after the 3k to 5k boost.

No funny noises, nothing weird... just doesn't feel as awesome as it did once it was broken in.

Anyone?

I would get a boost guage and make sure I was getting full boost. It seems like alot of EVOs were coming outta the factory with loose innercooler and diverter valve fittings. Get yourself a 10mm swivle headed socket and tighten 'em all up. Getting pulled by a stock WRX would be pretty embarrasing. Modded I could understand, but stock?

maybe you have a leakage somewhere, check all the hoses and tighten the clamps for the IC pipes

As SilverEvo8Owner said, your problem is it's stock. 19.5 psi to 16.5 psi after around 5k rpm seems normal to me on a stock EVO. You are probably just feeling the drop in boost after 5k because it is tapering off at 16.5 psi. But still worth checking all your clamps as everyone else just suggested.

As it's been said over and over.... Check all your clamps and hoses, ensure you're getting all the boost to and through that throttlebody. Also make sure that your using good gas. On most stock turbocharged vehicles the exhaust is only adequate.... I'd reccommend getting some type of mandrel bent system in there and that will REALLY open her up. Regardless a "stock" evo should NOT be getting pulled in by most WRXs on a highway...

Did he say it was a stock WRX? Many WRX owners also mod their cars. As a matter of fact, I rarely see a non modded WRX.

Yeah. A WRX has a turbo, too. Could you leave it alone? I sure as hell wouldn't.

ya but dont you think that the other guy is going to be hurting too from the hot weather ? All cars run better in cooler weather.
