metal in oil

Changed oil for the third time. 2200 miles and I still have glitter on the bottom of drain pan looks bronze in color. you can scrape it up with your finger. should I be concerned. how would you approach dealer. I saved the last three filters and oil in plastic jugs.

Thanks.

Did you cut your filters, specially the first one? i think that one could show dealer that there was something wrong since the beginning and you continue to change the oil two more times in order to figure out that definitly there is a contamination source inside the engine (thrust bearing, turbo bearings, etc).
Inspect filters carefully and stop running the car before the problem makes more consequential damage.
I´ve never seen a brand new EVO engine with such a problem.

Just called Blackstone labs. I was told that this might be normal. A am sending them a sample and if it is a problem the situation will get worse fast. and will have the facts (proof ) for Mitsubishi.

Anybody on this Forum send their oil off and have Good results? If so what oil do you use?

I did not cut the filters I just saved, them if needed. Those of you that had your oil changed by the dealer would never know this because they let the oil drain into those large collectors.

Sound serious and is not normal.... You might try a magnetic oil drain plug to catch some of the debris....

Cut the filters just to see if there is anything else (iron flakes, Pb-tin flakes, etc.). Use a magnet.
For me is more important what i can see in the filter (particles) than an oil sample report (generally related to particles per millon) specially when you already have detected particles in the oil pan.

i have a magnetic oil drain plug too... those flakes should be normal during your breakin period and even then you have 2000 miles so dont panick yet... i believe maybe til 10k until all components seat properly... the magnetic plug will help collect the flakes so it doesnt recirculate back to the engine but it wont prevent any problems
