The extra deck height will allow you to use a longer rod, and the 4G64 is designed to have a 100 mm stroke in the first place. It would be a better choice, and also has a larger bore at 86.5 mm compared to stock at 85 mm. Although with the same bore spacing it is probably possible to have identical displacement with either motor, but the 4G64 would be my choice and probably what I will build for my own Evo.

Go with a bigger turbo kit before you go with a built motor. Just be careful what turbo you choose because there are a lof of options out there that aren't working well.

Also once you have upgraded the turbo and it comes time to build a motor or put in a new motor. I believe the only way to go is the RnR 4G64. It is the biggest motor you can currently put in the EVO 8. It will produce the best torque and HP. Also you can't beat the price. Our bottom end is ready to drop in the car for $4500. No machine work, etc, etc.

There are some stroker kits that are the same price and thats just for a crank, rods, pistons, etc.

I agree with RnR, their pricing is excellent for the bottom end and this is the route I will most likely go when I decide to make some big power.

RnR, what is the peak rpm for your 4G64/evo hybrid motor? does it produce power all the way to the top or does it get out of breath a little? what about max torque and BHP figures? what does it rev like?

still sounds very good though.

thanks Chris.

We are waiting on our ECU to get back before we can do teh final tuning with our car. We are pretty sure it will make really good power all the way to 8500rpm. We will have our rev limiter at 8500rpm.
