Able to hold more boost with toluene????

I may be off here, but I have noticed that my car seems to hold and achieve more boost with toluene than without. I had my boost controller set at a peak of 21psi and tapering from there to 18.5-19 or so . I had a 1/4 tank in the car and added a ½ gallon of toluene to my tank. On the way to work, I found an open stretch of road and nailed it. I was spiking at 22.5lbs and it held 21 to redline. I always test boost spikes the same way... low rpms 3k and floor it.

Here are a couple more thoughts:

The 21 psi was set at 90+ on a hot day - The second run was 75-80 degrees first thing in the morning 6a...

The octane may be keeping the ECU from pulling timing which would allow the car to hold more boost. Not sure if this is the answer though because I ran up to 23 psi on pump/93 octane without any knock or timing pulled on my custom tune which was data logged by AL.

It could be a few things, Toluene has a higher energy content per unit volume than pump gasoline. But overall, I'd guess the weather difference had just as much a part as anything else.

It could be the heat... My car feels like it has problems breathing in the middle of the day. It just doesn't pull as hard. It is almost like driving two different cars....

No codes... I buy a 5 Gallon can at Sherwin Williams for $32.00... Not bad when you consider 5 gallons of 93 would cost you $10.00 anyway!

I've used it with good results also... however, I like Xylene better and get it at the same place...

Xylene or Toluene should I start a poll for this? So if I put like a gallon in at every fill-up would this be safe for my car? How many points does this raise based on the dilution?

Xylene is 117 motor octane. The only thing you have to worry about when you put it in your motor is that it is un lubricated so you have to add either marvels mystery oil or automatic transmission fluid to it otherwise it will wreck your fuel system. I think it is 3oz of the mmo or atf per gallon of xylene.

geez, if it costs around 6 bucks a gallon anyways, why not just use race gas or 100 octane?

I have used toluene and I put a gallon of it on a half a tank of gas. toluene has a motor octane of like 120. I use mmo in my tank as a lube. toluene is the octane in in pump gas. so good luck and have fun.
