For those with the Walbro 255 lph Fuel pump...

Is there really a Evo-specific Walbro 255lph Fuel Pump? Or is just the same Fuel pump but with installation items specific to the Evo.

The reason is that I am hearing conflicting things on this forum as to whether the Evo specific parts are really needed for the install or I can just get a generic Walbro 255lph Fuel pump and it should work. Also, my mechanic has a Walbro 255 lph Fuel pump in stock but it's just a generic one and I want to make sure it can be installed on my car. Thanks!

Brent

Questions regarding Evo modifications belong in a tech forum. The Evo General forum is reserved for questions specifically about the car.

From other sites, I've gathered that there are different part #s for different cars. The Evo is WALB GSS342/400-847 if that helps... (WRX is WALB GSS341/400-791, ie. different)

Thanks I dug around a little bit myself. It looks like the GSS342 have a few applications which include the Evo (eg, Civic, WRX, etc). So, there are different types of 255lph pumps and our cars fall into one subcategory...

I used the GS342 Walbro for an Acura Integra in my Evo. Many have done the same as you can generally find better deals on the Honda/Acura kits. I wish I could remember the guy I got my last two pumps from... $75 a piece naked.

showed an old mustang buddy mine and laughed at the fact that I paid $90 saying that the Walbro he has in his 93 GT seemed to be identical and could be had for $60 or $70
