Why not go back to the stock turbo and bolt-ons?

Dude, I hope all you are saying is that you made a purchasing mistake. you buy an EVO, mod it, and complain the that the results just aren't there. As an alternative you ponder selling the EVO for a more expensive M3 which you plan to basically leave stock. You can't spend that much money but you can afford an M3, just doesn't make sense.

I agree with other poster, why don't you try going back to stock and see how much more enjoyable the car just might be and other M3s are right there along with you.

Damn, for all the money you're spending on reflashes, you could have used towards an AEM EMS. I know it can be frustrating, but it's part of the modding process. Since your parts combinations are mixed up, you're not using a tried and proven combination.

You have all the right parts to have a fast car minus the fuel management. Complete your setup by getting an EMS and tuned properly.

As an owner of both E46 M3 (2001, bought it when it first came out.) and an Evo I love the intense driving experience of my EVO better. Though I love the throttle response of the M3. I think you definatly have to get a standalone EMS. I too have a Dynoflash done on my car. Reflashing will only get you so far. BY the way E46 M3 the earlier ones had alot of problems with their engins blowing(S54) this problem has been rectified as I have gotten my car serviced by BMW. Just that there is no garuntee after 100K miles Thanks to waruntee extension. Just thought I let you know before you sacrificed your Evo. The M is a great car just make sure get one that's been produced after Feb. 02. Either way you can't go wrong. I just love the experience in the Evo a bit more, plus you can modd the **** out of it, which you cant do with the M. Cus the M doesn't have the level of tunability that the Evo has. But as a great car out the box the M3 is phenominal.

this thread should be re-titled "help, I decided that heavily modded cars aren't for me and yet I already have own. an EXPENSIVE one. now what?"

I didn't dare modify my M3 but enjoyed reading the trials and tribulations of those who did, in case later on I decided to get wild. same thing for the Evo-- I'm not modifying it at all while it's under factory warranty. *and* I have spare vehicles, plural.

it's an all too common story that someone mods the **** out of their only car and then they later regret it.

dude...think about all the posts that you did talking about how great your evo was...here and on nasioc....DONT GIVE UP...you need a UTEC or standalone. afte rthe money you spent you are givng up WAYYY to easy. i was in the same boat with my galant when i had a supercharged installed by RIPPMODS and i was a beta tester so i went through alot of bs...and still am...right now i cant even get the car started. my evo so far has been great and i have payed for 2 dynoflashes....my next round of mods with cams and injectors i am going to be going with a utec....stick with the EVO..it seems that you havent had any serious problems with your EVO so dont give up...

You just cannot throw parts on the car and expect to go fast. Your flash was probably not meant for 112oct. IF that is the case (it was flashed for 93oct), you ran pig rich, fouled the plugs.

You need to do things right and also learn about tuning your car. It's not easy at first but you can't always rely on shops to do the tuning for you.

I know I may sound like a dick, but it's people like you that go around whining about sh*t that's your own fault. Then you'll get rid of the EVO and tell everyone that " the EVO sucks, it's slow, you spent thousand of dollars and still ran 20 sec 1/4 mile times, blah, blah, blah."

I don't follow that logic about running rich...

112 octane allows you to resist detonation. more boost and more ignition advance is what it *could* allow if tuned for that. however if you were tuned for the limitations of 93 octane, having more octane than that and changing nothing else would do diddly squat.

You need a stand alone system, I know some EVOs accomplish the times you wish and do it with a re-flash, and your wondering WTF why can't I do the same? Well life sux, I realize this everytime I get my Sentra GXE, but sometimes you just have to deal with it. Save up your money, get a stand alone system and work out any kinks that may be wrong with your EVO now. I'm sure with a quality stand alone system you should HP around 450 and hit consistent 11s. I know you think the grass is greener on the other side, but that often is not the case. It seems that 11s is a goal for you, if you think accomplishing that with a M3 is any easier, than I'm sorry you may be very dissapointed. Now getting an MR doesn't sound so bad.

Are the modifications people have on their EVOs interchangeable with the EVO MR?

It's so funny how easy people want to give up when things don't go right the first couple of times. Welcome to the world of modifications! I can't tell you how many times in the last 20 years I had to "work" to get my mods to turn out right. I don't know your level of automotive knowledge, but if you don't know much about cars, now is the time to learn. You got to hang in there research and ask questions on how to solve your problems. If you're low on funds, now is the time to get your hands dirty! You have a great Turbo set up and it just needs to be " tuned". You may need a stand alone or a piggy back computer to help dial in your flash. Your car has great potential to haul ***!!
