I just did some "before" datalogs:
Here the short:
Outside air temp 109F in the shade, 16% RH
This is with standard thermostat and ONLY distilled water (temp thing just for this week while waiting for new thermostat)
Started and let it idle (in shade), no A/C running; water temps climbed to 190F (peaked at 192F), fans come on at 190 and turn back off at 185.
Intake air temps continue to climb, was at 149F after 10 minutes. afr 14.6
Took it out for a few pulls;
I went thru the gears (to redline) twice on a 8 mile round trip, EGT never got above 1500F, boost maxed at 19.5, tapered down to 18 a few times, afr in 3rd gear 10.07 - 10.80 (kinda rich), timing at redline in 3rd, 10deg, water temp on each pull started at 181F climbed to 203 by the time I was in 5th, air tinke temp started at 122F dropped to 115F in 5th, (no spray).
All this on 91 octane, no a/c
Feels slower in this heat.
Back in May I got a custom dynoflash, afr right at 11.0, timing 13-15deg at redline in 3rd.
This heat is a *****!
I just got the Ralliart thermostat. I will install when car cools down and do another datalog tomorrow, (weather will probably be the same).

This insulating intake manifold gasket sounds interesting. Supposedly gives 5% more power....

How hot does the intake manifold get? I haven't put my hand on it after driving.
If the gasket helps, why not wrap or ceramicote to reduce heating from engine compartment.
What is the air temp after the turbo and after intercooler (obviously depends on ambient air temp)?

wait so your agreeing that manifold has higher chance of cracking if u thermo wrap or ceramic coat it?

if you coat the inside aswell as the out then there would be less chance as the heat would have to pass through a thermal barrier. this barrier should reduce the heat the actual manifold (not the coating) has to indure, thus reducing exspantion and thus reducing the chance of damage. also you would get better spool up as there would be more heat in the exhaust gasses.
thanks Chris.

It has been over a month now of very hard drving and the ceramic coating still looks brand new. No problems of any kind so far.

True. I just meant so far so good. Plus, this was a used exhaust manifold so it had already been heat-cycled hundreds of times before I did the port/polish/cermamic so I doubt it will ever crack...

Just got back from a datalog run with the new Ralliart thermostat installed.
Weather conditions are exactly as yesteday, 109F, 16% RH.
1st my initial oberservations; underhood temps feel cooler, this was verified by coolant temps. While idleing, it will rise, but the highest I saw was 187F (192F before).
While cruising around, coolant temps stay 176-179F (181-187F before).
Hard facts: (these numbers could be affected slightly, as I did lean out my afr. It was 10.07-10.8, now 11.0 +/- .4)
Coolant never went above 179F on hard pulls (203F before)
Air Intake temps 122F dropping to 115F during pulls (129f down to 115F before) Note here: air intake temps overall stayed around 117F, yesterday they hovered around 125F.
Timing peaked at 11deg (10deg before running much richer) So even with leaning it out, I picked up a degree. Also, the lowest I saw was 4deg, it dropped to 2deg yesterday.
Overall pulls felt stronger.
Only negative I've noticed, is higher idle rpms. 1000-1500 now, 800-1200 before. I have HKS272s so idle has never been great.
I turned the air bleed screw in 1/4 turn, idle back to as it was, lopey.
I'll be getting a custom re-tune Friday from Big Al.
PS, I also have a greddy 1.3KpA radiator cap, run only distilled water with Water Wetter.

I recall someone losing 10hp on the dyno after switching to a lower temp thermostat.
