505 whp on pump gas
I've spent some time developing some pump gas tunes for the EVO8's with AEM EMS's. Tonight I had some very good results on the dyno. First of all the gas used was 93 octane pump gas. The plugs where checked almost every run to monitor detonation and the EMS was logging knock output. Everything was done with utmost regard to reliability and safety, meaning if I saw one spec on the plugs or a harder spike on the knock output, I changed the tune around to eliminate this. After a bunch of runs I finally got consistand 470-475whp at 25psi of boost. Finally it was time to try out our water injection kit.
We've been working on a very complete and easy to intall water/alcohol injection kit for the EVO 8. the kit uses the stock intercooler sprayer tank as it's reseviour and it even has a low fluid level led to warn you when it's low on fluid. Tonight I tested it using straight water. I managed to run another 4psi of boost safetly and pull 505whp and 421 ft-lbs of torque out of our EVO8. I'll do more testing with alcohol and it looks even more promising than water!

very nice numbers indead. just goes to show that water injection does work on these motors. cant wait to see it with water and alcohol. keep us posted.
thanks Chris.
PS. think what you could be running with the 2.3 strocker in thier as well LOL. talk about ultimate road car.

Great numbers. Doug at Boost Solutions pulled 490whp on pump with water/alcohol injection on an Evo8 with a T67 25g turbo. It had Tomei cams, retainers, and springs but stock bottom end.

Well, duh.
Water injection is the chit. I've been running it for a few months now on the stock turbo and you can tweak it to where the thing spools up by 2700 and the immediate torque hit will make you think you're in a car with a much bigger motor. I've only been using straight water in there, but once you mix with methanol/alcohol, the results are really nice.
Plus, it keeps intake air temps low, which is good for you track junkies.

The only thing that scares me to death on h2o injection is the possibility of running out of water and then running all that advanced timing and boost. BOOM. I like the idea of low water warning. But the system would really need to very reliable before I would consider it.
