I think the STI has a bigger engine (2.5) but the EVO has a bigger turbo...don't quote me though.

Stock boost peaks at 19 PSI and then tapers to 16 PSI by redline.

Once you stomp on it, the Evo boost 19 and tapers down to @ 16psi. The Sti is @14-15psi due engine displacement and size turbo. Just imagine if the Evo has a 2.5 liter and the same turbo boosting 19 psi, we would pass the sti in hp.

STi:
"It makes a satisfyingly round 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque via 14.5 psi of boost." "Carving It Up", Automobile magazine, June 2003

Evo:
"The turbocharger feeds the engine with as much as 19.0 pounds per square inch of pressurized air, and a twin-scroll housing maintains high gas velocity for better throttle response in the face of that very large capacity turbo." Same article, same magazine.
