Couldn't be happier HKS 264/272 cams
#31
I just had my car custom tuned and Al said my AF ratios were rock solid. They stayed between 10.95 ans 11.10 all the way through redline. I have a walbro and thats it as far as fuel mods goes. I am running a custom 3in cold air intake with cone filter and turboback as well as 20PSI on BR MBC.
I think the reason that make the pipers superior is the well desgined ramp angles (easier on valvetrain stress) low overlap(better idle and spoolup) and aggressive lift specs(max power throughout the whole powerband)

I've got the cams in the car for about 3 weeks now and it's so much fun to drive it Just makes me want to stump on the the gas all the time. The car is not fully tune yet but she hauls ***....while I was installing the cams I also installed ARP cylinder head studs too. Another happy camper with cams

I am another proud owner of the 264in 272ex HKS cams. It was the best of both worlds for myself. Right now I am running with my cam gears at -2,-2 and it provides mad power all around from low to high rpms. You can run the stock valvetrain but you can't rev it to 8k though but honestly you can't do that anyways so if you are going to raise your rev limit then you have to upgrade it and the conrod bolts for support. Both cams the 264 and 272 provide the same lift so just different duration. The combo sounds mean and performs well.
Did you find that -2in,-2ex is the best setting for those cams because right now I am on 0,0 and before I was on -6in,-1ex but both didnt saticfy me.
Please let me know what I need to do with my 264/272 cams

A higher lift will require new springs and that will cause less streetability. It sounds like you are following the same path of upgrades that I am. I what 400hp daily drived on pump but 100% street driven. This is why I went with the HKS becuase it is proven to do this without getting down to replacing springs and retainers. But if I decided to go down that route I can and then raise the redline so it gives me a margin of safety with room to improve if needed. The Piper's sound alot like the JUN cams so both great products but to get maximum power out of them but they are harder to get to idle than the HKS. You can make them idle with cam gears and tuning but to use them to their full ability that gets sacrificed in one way or another. I am sure a good tuner and EMS can help overcome these bariers but I don't have an EMS right now and then again I don't think you will see any improvements with these over HKS until you upgrade your turbo if you even see it then. Once again just my opinion and why I chose to go with HKS , they have been proven to provide more HP and torque than others right out of the box.
what turbo r u using with yr hks cams now? stock? will it lag? Im using a GSC S2 (Int - 11 / Exh - 11.2) with stock turbo Evo 5...Will it be very laggy? Hope to get similar result as yours...
