PS sorry if that was a relatively tech-less reply... it's been a long day and I'm very tired. The Perrin flows well and it's size speaks for it's self concerning heat soak.

Zeus how do you feel about the Greddy V-SPL intercooler? I did not read anything in this thread that gives you opinion.

Ooh, I didn't know you have to trim the undertray with the AMS; I had thought it was a direct drop in. That's a pretty big ding against it in my book as well. Thanks for the info. I guess it is time to look more closely at the Injen.

I have no opinion as I've not really looked at them. If I remember right, Greddy uses tube and fin cores. I have my reasons for not wanting that design... one being durability. A bar and plate will genreally take a rock much better than a tube and fin core.

Noise, got a link to the Injen?

To jump back on topic... I see no reason the Greddy unit would not work well for most. Esp. if you can keep the OE mesh in front of it. 90% of Evo owners will never "use up" all the efficiency of most the aftermarket intercoolers on the market. Unless your building a 500whp beast, I would suggest people go with the unit that has the most desirable features and best fits their pocket book. I'd say the Greddy's would be just fine. They have a history... and a good one. I personally just don't like buying expensive products from the "big Japanese companies" because I think i contributes the the horribly over inflated prices in the import market.

I agree with Zeus. I got the V-SPL because it was a good price (used). It was a good fit, once installed. Also, from what I read and heard about it, the V-SPL is a good, not the best, upgrade from the stock intercooler. Flows a little better and is a little cooler, a good upgrade for the stock turbo. I do not plan to upgrade my turbo, and if I ever have to change it, I will go with the 05 Evo turbo. This intercooler fit my budget and mod path.
As for V-SPL duribility, I left my stock mesh in place.
As for the AMS, the guy who sold me my intercooler went with the AMS, and he likes it. If I was in the market for a new intercooler, I would get the AMS.

A little update:
I broke my stock BOV the day I installed the V-SPL, so I was not able to enjoy the full benifits of the IC until Friday of last week. I was using a borrowed Forge BOV and the car would kick when I got off the gas. BADAZCAR gave me his stock BOV and my car is a lot easier to drive. Thanks

Anyone make a TOP to BOTTOM FMIC? Al I see is side to side. Top to bottom is just *** it sounds, less pressure drop and I believe DSM performance does this.

HERE like this, and only $560 too....

and here

Of course you would flip the FMIC to the other side as the TB is on the other side but it would also shorten the piping too.
