galant vr4 project
guys, I need some opinions. I can't afford a lancer evolution as they cost about 30,000 us$ here in the philippines so I want to buy an old 1992 galant gti for about 3500US$ and buy the 4g63t engine and suspension off of a galant vr4 of the same year model for about 1500us$. What do you guys think about my project?
I am a newby at this.
thanks,
andy

As an owner of a 92 vr4, I highly recommend you concider upgrading to a 16g turbo if you go through
with the engine /suspension swap. Feel free to contact me for reasons why + why you shouldn't do it
in the first place.

Hi flag24, yup, I heard that there is a 12 or 14 turbo and there is the bigger 16. If I can find a bigger turbo here in the philippines, I will take your advice. I just did some research and a slightly used evo 5 or 6 costs about 50,000 US$ here in the Philippines. can you imagine!!!
anyone else out there who have done this engine/transmission/suspension swap?
thanks,
andy

I own a GVR4 also. Your right about the Evo's price. I know the manager at CitiMotors, and he told me the Evo 7 P 2.5 Million. I saw a couple 5's and 6's at Kotse.com around P 1.3 Million ($26k). I found a 4G63 block in Evangelista with yellow injectors (510cc's I think), which might of had the 16G on it. But as for the drivetrain, i wouldn't know where to look. Banawi maybe? Thats where i found my Evo 5 intercooler.

hi evosix, cool, are you filipino? you seem to know a lot about the Philippines. My friend mentioned that evangelista and banawe would be the places to go to look for those items. I can't afford an evo4 or 5 as I am only going to use this as a second car, just for the thrill of speed. I think I can put together the whole package of GTi body plus full cut of the vr4 for about P350,000 at the most, including mags and other stuff. P200,000 for the car. P80 to 100,000 for the fiull cut of 4g63t with suspension and transmission and an extra 50,000 for mags and other stuff.
what do you think?

I hope I will have it up and running by then. My friend's one, just recently assembled, will be my guage until mid next year when I have my F150 paid of and so I can start saving money for another car.
