It seems Excedy has two different styles of carbon clutches.
The Excedy Hyper Carbon series that Big Al loves and a newly released tripple and twin carbon series:
Here's the web site: http://www.daikin-clutch.com/product...%20Evo%208.htm
Anybody know anything about it?
The Excedy Hyper Carbon series that Big Al loves and a newly released tripple and twin carbon series:
New Product Announcement!
This is the Triple Carbon for the Evo 8. Just released! This clutch has been released due to increased horsepower performance modifications on EVO 8’s in the USA.
This clutch is quite different then the Hyper Carbon Series, The Hyper clutch has a single carbon disc, where the MM023SBMC has 3- carbon discs. It is a unique pull type clutch that is patented by Exedy
This new product is designed especially for EVO 8’s with HP at the wheels of above 480 - 700 HP. If vehicle is above 700 HP another triple carbon is available which has a high clamp load cover 200lb + - 10%. Part #s as listed: PT # MMO23SBMC...triple carbon. PT # MMO23SBMC-HPD triple carbon HD clamp load
NOTE: triple cerametallic clutch part # MMO23SR (Not good for street) can still be used for vehicles up to 700@ WHP
Carbon Triple Pt # MMO23SBMC & carbon twin Pt # MMO22SBMC are still OK for drag & street driving
The clutch is very streetable and comfortable to drive. Pedal pressure increase is approx 10% The clutch is designed for drag & road racing also

Sounds just like the ATS tripple carbon. The double full carbon exedy is what is in als car in that magazine thats out now. It is solid center full carbon plates just like the tripple in that ad. That clutch just ads one more plate for more holding capacity and even better modulation than the 2 plate carbon. Then there are the cusco and exedy "carbon" that are not full carbon plates but carbon mixes from what I understand. Those are 1300 to 1600 for the mixes. Then the Full carbons will run you 2000 and up for 2 plate and 2800 for 3 plates aprox. And guys that is a whole lota clutch. Most guys even with turbo upgrades will never need more than a 2 plate clutch.
Z1 has all of these clutches and can guide you in any clutch decision you want to make. They really know their stuff and have very good prices.

what what you get? an HKS gd max twin plate or an Ogura twin plate? the ogura would cost me just a little bit more. just dont have much feed back on this clutch, not like the hks w/c is the prefered choice by most.
