Go to Turbotrix and get a custom SAFC2 tune (with all your future mods) you should be in the 330-350 whp range. I'd get the stand alone ecu only if you plan on doing a turbo upgrade aswell.

Or even chaper, get the Turbotrix ecu flash...

In my opinion plans always change. One day your not going to do a big turbo then 2 years later you find yourself building a motor or just the opposite your still driving an almost stock car. Personally I would pick something with some versatility, probably a UTEC (I prefer a standalone myself) but at least w/ a UTEC you can tune it yourself and you can change more than just fuel (example S AFC) if you think you don't want to go full standalone right now then don't. If you were to get a UTEC for example, and its not enough later on you can always sell it and get something else (AEM) No matter what you do though if you plan on tuning yourself factor in the cost of a wide band of some sort or you will hate your life cause you will never know if your A/F is where it needs to be

I totally agree with vividracing3 on this. I was debate on the same topic ever since I got my EVO. EMS yeilds some awesome power, but it takes much longer to fine tune. With an EMS, you have to tune more than just AFR and timing, you have to fine tune pretty much everything! Cold start, etc. The list can go on and on. Second to that, AEM EMS is alot more expensive than utec, plus it is hard to find a good shop around my area to tune it.

I got the utec b/c I wanted to learn how to tune. And in my option, it is one of the best place to start out. The functionality, price, and the ease of tuning are the factors that helped me decide. If you thought of those factors, you will find your decision. Good luck!

this is my only concern going with a full standalone setup.

I appreciate everyones advice. This is the first thread that people have actually given straight answers to my questions, and backed up their opinions.

I searched for hours, and this has been the most informative thread for me. Thanks everyone

i dont mean to offend other management users. I also looked into the Apexi setup that you run, but not many people seem to have much experience using it. I would like to hear your opinion about your setup please.

I can only comment on what I have used. With the SAfC2 and Buschur 780cc injectors the car ran good. With the AEM ems the car made more power at all rpm's. I am glad I got it .

all I'm sayin is get something with all the choices... all piggybacks are not the same...and aem is not the only standalone... I like my Power FC it seems to be a great unit but I dont think I can use all of its features until I get more done on the car... IE turbo headwork etc. only thing I dont like is that you only have 1 map... There are other EM units with multiple maps that can be more useful for some people, but it will suit me just fine I have the commander so I can tune from the car... it all depends on what you want, you need to know where you want to end up with the car before you start tuning. If you know what you want then it is easier to plan so you dont have to do things twice.
