Stock Block Capability
I have big plans for my Evo (thanks a lot Deciet). I was wondering, after a good head gasket, head studs, proper piping, a turbo kit and proper engine management (I already have the cluthc and what not), what would be the blow up point for a stock motor evo? Its my daily driver and I guess I'll shoow for 450whp, but I still need the car to commute, and last for a while....at least until I pay it off. I do mostly highway miles, and rarely race it...I just want to know what self destruct mode starts....

I think for the most part, the consensus is that your goal of 450whp should be fine for the stock bottom end....that's assuming the tuning is right and running the way it should. Just make sure the tuning is right and if you're going to put continuous (road racing) stress on the car, build up ur fueling and cooling as well. Then the car should be ok for a long time.

Do you want to make 450whp on pump or race gas? If you want to make 450whp on pump, you'll most likely be tuned to the limits and not have much safety margin. If you stick to around 350-375whp on pump gas, it should be fairly reliable if you are in a good state of tune. Also, at those power levels, you should really know how to tune and troubleshoot your own car in case something goes wrong.
