i got the kit 3 months ago....i installed everything but the short shifter...it sucked

***...it takes so much efford to shift into 1st, 2nd and fifth gear.even w. the heavy

shift knob that came w. it

i think the prob. was that, theres no counter weigh welded on top of the shifter like the one from B&G(which you screw on)

...i installed the shifter 3 times..cuase i put the stock back in to see the

difference...so i basically everything is good..cept the shifter...now i

use the stock shifter w. the LS shift knob...that **** is nice..

I went with the Perrin kit, but bought it from Lancer Shop. Justin is great to work with. If they have it in stock, I buy it from him.

I might need to get this...

I just installed the LS short shifter and in-car bushings. I haven't installed the under hood bushings. It's defiantely shorter, that for sure. But like the guy above I think that it's too hard to shift. I mean it's alot harder to shift. I wonder if I tighted the two bolts on the side of the retainer too tight. I didn't use any grease I just borrowed the extra from the stock shifter, and that wasn't much. I also used the stock white end caps and put them on the LS shifter ball joint ends.

Anyone have any ideas on why it is soo much harder to shift?

Its all about the mechanical advantage. The short shifters move the fulcrum lower and translates that pivot point into less throw. It will always be harder to move the shifter because of that. With the Perrin kit (not sure on the LS kit), you can actually make your car a long throw and actually make the car easier to shift but I didn't like the increased travel. I have mine in the lowest possible position and its pretty damn stiff but I like it. The BG Synchroshift helped.

Thanks RyanM...

we appreciate the review. Also, our shifter does have that really kool feature of being able to change the height of both the knob and the throw. Due to a reduction in mechanical advantage as you lower the knob and shorten the throw the required force will increase. But there again the user is allowed to make the decision as to where he/she wants to be. None of the competition has this feature!

Also, Lancer Shop will be making a price adjustment shortly to the PERRIN™ shifter as it still reflects our older MSRP. Now an even less expensive option for the EVO 8 customer!

If anyone has any questions or concerns let us know!
