ATT HKS 264 cam owners... Question

I have HKS 272 cams in my car and the idle sux big time. So I going to put a HKS 264 intake cam in to make the idle civil. I just got my 264 intake cam in today and I looked on the cam to see the 264 carved on to it. 264 isn't carved on to it anywhere. What is carved into it is "704" and "AM 001" What I was just wondering to you guys with 264s is, was "264" was carved on to the intake cam? I need to know this before the weekend when I put it in. Thanks

Do you have em....if so were you able to add fuel at idle to smooth things out....do you have cam gears? Sorry for all the ques. but I am getting ready to put 272's in my car this weekend and I have heard you CAN def. make the idle liveable, ie not stalling but still sounds like it has cams....which I think is pretty cool.

I have gears and I have tried everything to get it to idle ok. Nothing has worked for me. The difference between the 272-272 and 264 272 isn't that much of difference in power.
I've heard some people can get 272 to idle ok and some can't, I guess I'm one of the ones that can't.

Well, yeah, you could give up, install another cam and spend another 600 by the time it's all said and done...or you could richen the idle a bit.

Your call.

Or, you could just advance the exhaust cam 2-3 degrees and take out some of the overlap. That should give an immediate improvement.

I do not think the exhaust overlap is the problem, if anything you want it open longer. The reason for a poor idle is a lack of vaccum with the cams, but that can be adjusted by adding fuel, or lessening the intake cam duration, which would help some.

I think 264 is good enough for daily driving. You really don't want to make your Evo into a all out race car and hate driving it in stop and go traffic.

The long duration/overlap is the principle aggravating factor that causes a lack of vacuum.

I won't pay anything I work at a performance shop and will be putting it in this weekend. I have richen the idle anywhere from 14.7 to 11.0 nothing has worked.

Have you adjusted the ignition timing at all at that loadsite?
