Testing the EVO 8 in Thailand!!
My friend who races for MITS in Srilanka (Evo VII RS) just got an invitation to attend a testing session of the all new 2003 Evo VIII in Thailand. About 28 racing/rally drivers will be driving the prototype. Mits Japan wants feedback from this group so they can make the final tune ups for the new model. I will post the pictures when he returns... Rumor is that it will have more grunt than all of the models before..

I think this is highly possible...BTW, I do think Subaru knows more about the EVO than most of us on this forum, even the EVO owners Wouldn't you think they will have "other" sources to obtain the info? The same goes for Mitsu I guess.
Diyath, do post pic when you got them

I believe it... Rhys Millen (of RMR) Has driven the new US spec 8 in Las Vegas a month or so ago. I don't know about "getting feedback" for changes though. I'm prety sure the specs and plans have all been final.

Oh well, it is almost there anyway. One way or another, specs will be out pretty soon, so if we could have waited for so long to see the street legal lancer in the dealership, we can wait a bit longer and get those specs!!!

I'm really beginning to believe that these cars, US "Evolution" and JDM Evo VIII, are going to be worlds apart...

Yah, I'm beginning to feel that way too. I guess we'll end up with a pretty nice Evo, but it sounds like it will be more comparable to an Evo III or IV. Still very good cars though.

Well, I don't know if this is true or not, but what I do know is this: If is planning on selling the new Evo here in the at the beginning of January, they will need to have the final spec decided on within a couple of DAYS. So I'm not sure about the feedback part. Usually (foreign) automakers start producing their cars 2-3 months before they start hitting shores. Just my $.02...
