Well, I think that there's really not too many coupes compareable to the Evo, but if I had a coupe along with my Evo I'm still sticking with the G35 (and that's because it's right around the same price range as my Evo.) But of course if given liberty to get more expensive I might get a Mercedes, or more likely a Maserati.

Anyway, my point is that I'm 19, most of my friends are as young as I am, I live in a county where 6 months out of the year I will use the AWD (LOL, you should've seen my car yesterday, one of these times I'll take pictures) and it does seat 5, and the ride really isn't that hard on me. So the Evo is my daily driver pretty much.

If I got another car (specifically a coupe) I'd want some coosh leather navi-thingie hooptie car. Not a lotus Elise, which might actually have a worse ride quality than the Evo eee-gads!

I understand this was not the origional question, just thought I'd mention this anyway though.

The soon to be released 2005 GTO. SAME engine as the 2005 Corvette, 6.0 liter, all aluminum V8.

400 HP, 395 lb ft of torque with a REASONABLE price of $33,500. Tire smoking, muscle car and gentlemen's express for the real world claiming sub 5 second 0-60. Look out for that top end that never stops until 6500 RPM.

Yes, but have you looked at this thing? YAWN. You can go to the dealers right now in many areas and pick up a GTO on the lot (350hp) for like $5-6k off the sticker because they aren't selling worth a damn. If you put the options on it it'll run up to $37k pretty quick. But, stripped down it's like $33k. It needs some kind of bodykit of something for me though!

I'm with ya on that 2nd car being 'cushy'. However, in my research that cushy crop of vehicles are not cheap!

Here's your hat. The ONLY option is the 6MT at $695. Not selling well is a plus to some as you won't meet yourself going down the road every 2 minutes. Low production numbers and a cheap price seldom go together. They might sell a little better in 05 with the Corvette engine. It gets better gas mileage than the Evo. It's probably a little more suited to the over 30 crowd who understand the advantages of monster torque.

I'm over 30. Understanding torque and one's age have nothing to do with each other. What do you mean by your statement?

He said over 30 so he wouldn't have to say maturity.

Maybe that the older crowd is lazier and not as likely to shift as much. With the lower torque ranges, you have less of a need to downshift to get power. Just a guess.

Talking

Well, my business partners and I went car shopping a couple days ago for a new car for my buddy Andre because he was all ego bent I got the Evo So his great idea was that he was going to buy the '05 Mustang GT, so we scooted on over there and drove it.

I swear to god it was one of the happiest moments of my life when he got out of the car with the dealer and he said "I don't know Matt, it seams like there's something missing." And the dealer said, "Hey man!? WTF are you talking about! This car is the stallion of stallions!!!!!!111111111one. This car is the hottest s*** on the road!" And Andre turned to me and said "Man Matt, it just doesn't drive like your car." And I said, "Nothing does."

So we went down to Marin on the freeway and were going to buy an STi because Andre was so bent up about the new Mustangs, but on the way I told him he had to stop at the Infiniti dealership (plus I was driving.) He told me that he was going to stop, use the bathroom, and look around at the cars on his way out then he was going to go get the Subaru. No more than five minutes.

Darned if there's not a brand new G35 6MT w/Prem. and Nav. sitting in his driveway this morning. Sorry it was such a long story, but I guess all it gets at is that the G35 is closer to the Evo than the '05 Mustang. But you guys probably already knew that. Plus the G35 is mad sexier.

the g35 does have more sex appeal!

anyhow, back on topic.... the elise and the c6 shouldn't have too much trouble taking the evo on the track, stock for stock.

"what coupe would you want"...

Easy... Lotus Elise... if it drove well through the snow... i'd be driving that right now... awesome track performer... exotic build... exotic looks... Period... and the Sex appeal of that Lotus, girls cream themselves just from a drive-by, heh... the base Vette is for retired State Troopers and Tractor Trailer drivers... the new Z06 though, that's a different story all together, it's gonna own...

When it comes to new coupes, I can't think of one comparable to the Evolution in or below its price range.

If you're willing to consider used cars, things change a bit. I'm suprised nobody's mentioned the turbo, AWD Eclipses/Talons yet I'd say they're by far the most comparable coupes to the Evolution.

i voted s2k as the coupe i'd most want on the list. it's a little on the raw side which i like unlike the elise.... more of an exotic weekend warrior, but i'd like to include the 1987 Ford T-bird turbo coupe ( 1 year ony, 2.4L single turbo) , and the Ford Escort Cosworth(UK, Awd turbo). I'm not a ford fan but i love those 2 cars.
