Comparable coupe to Evo

In building off another thread I started awhile back concerning the next to realistically challenge the Evo:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=78048

I have a new subject now - what's a comparable coupe to the Evo? In the last thread it was debated that the 2-door cars aren't really comparable, and I somewhat agree.

So, let's just list the coupes here! Think of it like this...as a current Evo owner, what coupe would you also like to have in your garage or driveway??

Thx.

I miss my old IS300. Wasn't the fastest car in the world, but it was very refined. I'd put it on the list. The 2JZGE is stout engine and lends to mods fairly well (other than cost factors).

I would have added the supposed 2007 Skyline, but from I've been reading it's gonna be the G35 plus lots of extras - estimated near $75k...

Also, the C6 is a little steep at $44k base.

is300 is not a coupe

i would say there arent any coupes that compare...none of the cars posted give the same feeling that the evo gives...i have driven several of those cars on the list and still chose the evo over them...

perhaps an old supra or rx7 would be a better comparison...i think the best comparison would be a 911 TT or 996 (turbo, AWD, good responsiveness, nice looks, etc)...but or course you cant compare the prices (or luxury)...

if i had to pick ANY coupe to be in my driveway, of course it would be an exotic of some sort...if i had to pick one on the list you posted...you cant argue with the g35 coupe...its just so sexy

Which version of the G35 has 300 HP? I was under the impression that it had less than the 350z which is at 287. Anywho, I would take the 350z, I just love the way the car looks from all angles.

There's supposed to be a special sports package coming out that'll bump up the hp to 300.

There's a magazine article (Speed, linked off of Road&Track) about the MazdaSpeed RX8. Although the body molding does look good, that thing is still just slow...

The TT is kinda underpowered overpriced for this group - at over $40k. I'd rather speed a bit more and jump up to the S4, but that's off topic.

If you're going to rate the G35 at 300 for a special package, you should rate the Z at 300 since that is what the 2005 35th Anniversary has.
