Ultimately, the inspection relies on the abilities of the tech performing the certified pre-owned inspection itself. But there will be and will always be the "human error" element. The difference however, is the WARRANTY BACKING you recieve that you wouldn't if you bought privately. This is what really covers the guy who's tranny fails. Or the engine craps out.

There are arguments for and against purchasing a CPO car.

Bottom line is the majority of the consumers are in fact willing to pay more and DO pay more for this pre-owned protection.

You just can't argue with the numbers, really.
In general I agree with you, However, the value of a warranty directly corralates to the integrity of the company providing it. I personally wouldn't trust a warranty as far as I could throw it, so the added value just isn't there for me personally. That coupled with the fact that I've SEEN the people supposedly "qualified" to work on Evos, and I don't trust their judgement. To me an Evo in particular with a "special inspection" and "extended warranty" would just be some expensive gimmick and not worth the added cost.

the actually cost of ownership on a evo is around 45K in the long run. but on the certified pre-owned topic. i personally wouldnt buy a used car but i do not see a problem with it if it is in prestine condition.

Why not?

You bought a Mitsubishi, right? What's the difference?

If the integrity if the company and their vehicles were so suspect..why did you purchase one of their cars in the first place?

You might as well just say..Love the car, hate the company..

It seems like an oxymoron to me but..

For a basic A to B car like an Accord or Camry, a used one is fine...for an Evo, I'd rather have a new one...they don't cost that much more than a used one, anyway...
