um...
there is no way the EVO8 will be able to compete with the Z06 at the 1/4 mile track... and it doesn't need to... I think another apples vs oranges thread is gunna start here
read more of the thread...
I am not a huge fan of the way the US lancer looks, but a pontiac driver has the right to make fun of no one when it comes to looks, or performace for that matter. look at the current pontiac aztec... need I say more?

One word debate...
DRIVER
Yes, a Z06 can stomp a the "Evo 8" (theoretical car right now, does anyone know real specs? lol) in the hands of a good driver, but I think an average driver can do more with the smaller, more nimble, less edgy, awd sedan. Trust me, saw a guy that didnt know what he was doing with a Z06 on an autocross course, and he took out many cones and didnt post good times. As with everything, the driver is a key ingredient that often goes over looked.

Z06 is same weight with 405hp and lots of torque, wider, lower, etc........
One of the magazines tested the Z06 with steve millen driving it and it was less than 1 second behind (on a 1+ minute course) a 360 Modena. The S2000 was something like 9 seconds back. I would have to assume the EVO will be somewhere in the middle but not even close to the Z06.

The EVO might be closer to the Z06 than you think. It really depends on the course, the type of curves and how long the straights are.

z06 is my favorite american car........but i love the Evo, always have, ever since i first layed eyes on it my freshmen year of HS......
but in a straight line the z06 would win, but on a course.. i'd say Evo. There both great cars thoughs.
My only gripe with the z06 is that you pay 50-60k for a car and you get a interior just as good as a Cavilear(sp?)....
