2.4 liter turbo + RWD = OWNAGE!

"Dream on, Dream on, keep on dreamin till your dream comes true!"
Even if your dream does come true, it'd still be a neon. That'd be like saying "A modified Dodge Omni that runs 9.00 is the way to go because it's faster!"
You'd still be driving an Omni.

We should be hugging each other, not arguing. We're like cousins now.

Just saying that it's almost a sure bet that the neon will never be AWD, it would cost too much. No one would want to pay 30K for a neon. And it's not all that likely that it will stop being FWD, as being able to slap them together easily is one of the reasons it's a cheapo econo-box. Changing it to RWD would mean a complete redesign, and changing the assembly process completely. Not saying it won't happen, but seems unlikely for a car that fuels the Thrifty and Budget rental agencies of the world!
And correct me if I'm wrong, but the regular Lancer IS FWD. Besides, I wouldn't own a neon if it were AWD and ran 9.00 from the showroom floor! Cause it'd still be a neon! And neons are GAY!

That looks like MOPAR dreaming to me.
Here is a direct quote of the real information that is "referencing"
"
What we're looking for is whether there are opportunities to use the same (C-segment) architecture," says Bernhard. It would be a front-wheel-drive, east/west engine layout, he says, to accommodate a V-6 for the larger cars, in addition to the inline 4-cyl. slated for the smaller cars.

Yeah...nobody's arguing that the Evo isn't the better car. You get what you pay for. That's why I'm on these forums. To learn more about them. For a while I was thinking about trading up for one but I really dig the STi too. I still haven't totally made up my mind. Seems like the little 2.0L in the Evo takes much better to mods than the 2.5L in the STi. I'm sure it has a lot to do with the long aftermarket history of the 4G63, but just the same Subaru has a lot of catch-up to play.

The article you posted was in 2003 and everybody knows that things change.
You also fail to realize that we are talking about the SRT-4 NOT the neon (which will no longer be called a neon). The SRT-4 will most likely have a price tag to compensate for a RWD or AWD system. I'll take a stab at around 25k.
I like this quote: "The Lancer EVO will come to the US as a Dodge...". I bet this makes so many of you diehard Evo fans blood boil. Just face it, the SRT and Evo will be one in the same in SO many aspects.
