Water Sprayer Question

How does the intercooler sprayer thing work? Ive always wondered where does the water come from and what does it spray onto? Do you have to refill the water on a regular basis?

It comes from the resevoir near your driver's side headlight. It sprays on the front of the intercooler from the left and right. I don't know if it makes a difference, but I use it.
