$30,000 for an MR???
Hey fellow MR drivers...my dealer just gave me an offer of $31,800 for a white 2005 MR. I countered with 30,000 cash to finish the deal on Monday.
With what you MR owners paid...do you think this deal is possible?
If not what would you counter offer?

If he meets you half way with $31,000 cash take it, as long as he pays tax/title/license.
$31,000 out the door would be amazing. $30,000 before T/T/L would also be a great deal on an MR.
However, LOOK THE CAR OVER! Be sure to pay special attention to the hood and fenders. check for small dents that might not be that obvious at first glance. Don't buy one with more than 50 miles on the odometer, unless you are ready to come on here and start a thread such as "my car's clutch died at 7,000 miles." If he is firm on the $31,800 price, get options. If you are ever going to take this car cross country, get the OEM car bra. The sport pedals are nice as well, along with the wheel locks (those BBS's are nice). There are lots of options for this car that a lot of people don't take in to consideration when negotiating on the purchase of the car.

Maybe they are trying to push them out the door so that they can get on the list and get more in the future? A lot of times, it isn't how much money you make on the initial sale, it's how much business you can generate in the long run. Getting an MR on the road where people can ask "where did you get it and how much did you get it for" is a valuable marketing tool. Even if they won't sell the next MR at that price, it still gets potential customers in the door, and then they can pitch a sale on a different Evo to those guys, if needed.

No way. That's 5K below sticker and who knows how much less than invoice. That would be the deal of the year if true.
Over here, not only do the dealers want full MSRP, but thay have a $7000 markup on it on top of that.

The rs isn't an MR. Dealers can only sell an rs to a specific consumer base. Meanwhile an Mr has a bigger market. Why is this you ask. Because the resell vallue is alot higher for an MR than an rs. It is a performer with the comfort that the American public wants. So I still say that it sounds to good to be true. And while it was a good deal you got for the rs, before I got my 05 I could have gotten a 04 gsr for 28,000 and change out the door. But the Mr was going for msrp. Alot of people say how they got all these great deals on the MR but nobody ever posts the bill of sale of these great deals.

Considering its almost the end of the year, Mitsubishi probably has sales goals setup for dealers with cash back incentives if they meet those goals.

When I was in the market for the RS, here is what I encountered.
I spoke with John Kennedy from Ourisman Mitsubishi. He said he would put me in an RSor a GSR, whichever one I wanted, for INVOICE or below. He also said that if I wanted to hold out until November, he would put me in an MR for INVOICE. I personally had no desire to get the MR. The RS is more my style. At first I thought it was strange that he was kicking these cars out the door, thought maybe he was just saying that to get me in the store, then try to stick me with some higher price or something.
I went there to take delivery of my new car. Sure enough, I walked out with the car for $500 under invoice, and at a total of $26,255.50.
He was willing to push any Evo he could out on the road. They've been in business for like 25 years, so I would say they know what they are doing. Great dealership and very honest!
