you take the ECU out of your car and mail it to a tuner ...tell them what mods are on your car. they Reflash (essentially re program some stuff) and it tunes for your setup to get the most power... they send it back you replace and go... also undetectable for warranty issues compared to an add on system hope that helped some

More of a tech question, since I have never removed a ECU out of a car. RaleighEVOVIII How hard is it to remove the ECU and where is it on the Evo?

go to the howto section or the dynoflash section and there are directions.

basically you take off your glove box two clips
the one on the left you have to pop out.

the black box to the left is the ecu.... it will have 3 or 4 wire harnesses .... pull those out
There will be 3 or 4 10 mm bolts. unscrew that and it will fall out
unclip the metal bracket and ship it to the tuner
