Final Specs Released!!!!!!
Here they are, the final specs for the US-spec EVO!!
I just got this 2 min ago, from a tech that went to the
Mitsubishi class getting them ready for the Evo 8.
FMIC w/ water sprayer
Recarro seats
Brembo brakes
Rear diff is viscous
Center diff is in transfer case and is also viscous
Front diff (paperwork is a misprint and talks about the F
diff being in the T-case) so no info.
271hp 273 tq
1 version, only options will be sunroof, and an optional
down sizing of the carbon fiber rear spoiler to the OZ
one.
Under 30K (what ever that means) probably $29,999.99
Only 5K first year.
6 colors
27mpg highway
Sport ABS with EBD/traction control (electronic Brake
Distribution)
Inverted front struts (forgot to ask about the rear)
235/45/zr 17 17x8 wheels Yoko tires ~10,000 miles life
Synthetic oil only
Must have “evo certified” tech work on it or it voids the
warrantee
8.8-1 compression 16G twin scroll
5 speed with short shifter
Triple syncro 1,2 gear
Double 3,R
Single 4,5
Hollow cams and Mag Valve cover.
Etc.
I have a picture of the front of the car. But I am not
supposed to copy it, so I won’t. It is more aggressive
than the 7.
The count down on the Mitsubishi site is for debut at the
LA auto show.

Same EXACT message (even line breaks words and spacing) that MrAWD posted on Friday from DSS. (https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...threadid=10973)
Would be interesting to find out if he got it here. (or it came from DSS)

Heh... no reason to beat yourself up over it.
I just found it funny that they sent it out in the same format... I wonder how many others got the 'exclusive' info.

According to japanvehicles.com, the Evo VIII RS comes standard with a Rear 1.5 way mechanical LSD and Front helical LSD. Does anyone have anymore details on these two types of diffs?

According to our district service rep the car will have a warranty (he's not happy about it - Mitsu almost opted not to do it). Oil changes will be required every 1,500 miles and tires are said to be good for only about 10k miles as stated above.
We were told by the district sales rep there will be 4 packages (two with sunroofs) and a choice of 2 rear wings. New owners will be required to watch a video before delivery that will, among other things warn they buyer that they can't complain about the harsh ride or lack of sound insulation because they are buying a street legal rally car. Also, the HP and torque numbers above are what we were told but we were also told that the RPM those numbers are produced at is much lower than one would normally expect (sorry, they didn't say what RPM). Mitsu's way of underquoting the power. We were also told that as many as 7,000 might find their way to the U.S. in the first year. Allocations will be based on a number of factors with some dealerships not getting any of the cars at all while most only get a handful. My store, which is a good sized one, gets 5 with options for 2 more (or the possibility of having 2 taken away) for the ENTIRE YEAR! We'll have our first car in late, late February - mid-March.
Oh, there's probably more but I can't think of anything else at the moment.
