Mitsubishi not standing behind their EVO's..........hmmmm funny..........

this problem goes both ways. Mitshubishi is currently experiencing a 50% drop in sales in Japan for the past 3 months due to a big recall scandal, for years the auto maker has been covering up difects in many of the cars, trucks and auto parts they sold, think of the hundreds of 1g and 2g engines that had crank walk that was misdiagnosed and cost owners big $$$$ to rebuild engines at the dealers.
In addition, Mitsubishi's U.S finance arm quit providing 0% loans to no down payment and no payment for a year to credit-risky buyers, due to the high rate of repossessions and loan defaults. In an atempt to save the company, some Mitsubishi owners may incounter grey area warranty issues.

Actually I read every post, including your starting post. What I said was the fact that you installed an MBC knowing it may void your warranty means you assumed that risk. Regardless of what it's set on when you take it in for service or what part fails. You read the warranty, it says racing or modification MAY void the warranty, you modify it anyway...where's the big surprise that you MAY have warranty issues at the dealer.
Sounds like you're running off the conspiracy-theory side of the highway also if you think I work for a DSM dealer.
There's no bashing here chief. Despite your obvious hostility I've tried to keep this clean and on point. Proving your axel seal case is between you and Mitsu. I'm simply saying that if you choose to risk your warranty by modifying or racing the car (expecially given all the warranty stories posted here) then you assumed that risk. It may work out OR it may cause you to be in a warranty fight with Mitsu trying to prove your MBC didn't cause the problem.

Also, how does a MBC effect an axle seal? You must work at a DSM dealer......huh? If you must know, every turbo car that I've had or even n/a car that I've had has been modified. I don't care if your EVO is stock or not. In power mods, your see in my sig. that I have a MBC (lower boost than stock set at 18psi) so the car doesn't jerk around from 13psi - 19psi in stock form. Before you start bashing me about my situation, read the whole thread. Beaten or not about this subject, doesn't matter to me. This is my case and this happened to me. How does a passenger rear 1/4 panel effect a leak in the driverside front? Can you answer this. I don't know many people who have modified their rear 1/4 panels, have you?

On that same note I do get tired of reading guys with a signature full of modifications and 1/4-miles times pissing and moaning about how Mitsu sucks because they won't fix my car for free.
The profiling is there I'm sure...but I'm sure they see just as many valid non-modified non-racing claims as they do obvious racing / modification claims.
And if you think any Mitus rep would spend the time out here debating this I think you're crashing off the conspiracy-theory side of the highway.

WOW! Not a lot of mods here? Right?
no 1/4 mile time here........MY CAR HASN'T BEEN TRACKED. I have been asking people about track set-ups, b/c if my whole warranty is shot, I don't care about anything then.

So if Road & Track hits 155 MPH with Justin Bell on a closed test track then every owner should be able to do the same? If Pannizi slides an MR over and over again through Motegi's turns then you assume the MR you get at the dealer can do the same over and over again and still be warrantable. The warranty says no racing...that's racing. They don't have to tell...they say NO racing. And yes I do think drag racing an AWD car even assuming the driver is good (which is not a safe assumption) will whack the clutch regardless of what the magazine or commercials show.
Newby...sure I'm a newby. I've owner my EVO since early 2003 and road raced other cars for close to 20 years...not to mention being an active reader of EVOM long before I bought the car...yep I'm a newby if that makes it easier for you.
Do you think that anybody that does anything short of saying "yea dude Mitsu sucks" is a Mitsu employee or dealership employee.

So If an EVO owner takes their car to the track and the clutch slips and he runs a 13.3 like the magazine says, is he at fault b/c the clutch slips? It's not that the car has a weak clutch huh? It's the drivers fault?!? That doesn't make any sense. You must work for a dealer. Plus, it shows your a newby, you haven't had time to browse. I'll cut you some slack about that. Again, do a search and then come talk to me.

Again with the hostility...
Would it surprise you to know my last car (a 4G63) ran a whopping 93K miles with no crank walk. No one ever said all manufacturers make perfect cars in every model and on every component. You still don't get it. I'm not debating that your MBC caused your problem or that Mitsu should or should not replace it for free. I'm simply saying that if you modify or race your car knowing those activities MAY void your warranty then don't be surprised when you end up in a warranty hassle with Mitsu. It's SO simple.
I feel bad for you and I'm sure it's very frustrating. Sorry you're going through this, especially on a car that is supposed to be fun and NOT a hassle. Either way I hope it works out for you and you can get back to enjoying the car.

Also, nothing is voided with your warranty unless an aftermarket part has altered it in anyway to cause it to fail. If you hydolock your engine with a CAI w/o a bypass valve, that's on your tab. If it hydrolocked b/c water seeped through your vent on your hood, that's on Mitsu. It's common sense. A MBC will not cause an axle seal to leak. bottome line. Especially when it's set at a lower psi. The car doesn't go any faster, unless your talking about a gov. being removed, by flashing, stand-alone, piggy-back ecu...etc. The car says it will go 142mph, the seal should hold to 142mph. Magazine's lie here and there, but we all know the truth about our cars. If you drive an EVO like you say, you can contest to this knowledge. I'm not trying to be an a$$ about this, but you just have to understand what I've been through. that's all............

Hell, I know a little about cars but, I'm not a mechanic. The dealer's techs should have a pretty good idea on whether or not a modification was the cause.
It just seems to me that a lot of dealerships are using mods as an excuse regardless of whether or not that it is or is not the problem.
Didn't mean to assume that you were a rep but, what you are saying isn't offering any clarity on why so many ds's are denying service. The mods still have to contribute to the cause of the problem.

I think that whole "honesty is the best policy" saying doesn't apply when you bring in a lightly modded car to a dealership for warranty work. Return the car to stock if possible just to be safe. You never know the agenda of the service manager. Sort of ironic that every Mitsu commercial I see on TV ends with "...the best backed cars in the world..."
I think they should add "unless it's an Evo".
