Why buy the MR with the 9 on the way?
If I'm not mistaken, the next incarnation of the evo will have the MR offerings plus a few tweaks to preserve the "evolution" of the line -- as well as to maintain the performance advantage over Subaru. With the improvements and the feedback from the current evo owners in the US, wouldn't you think that Mitsu will:
1) Offer high hp variants like the UK
2) Increase the warranty backing and customer service
3) Include all the electronic magic of the JDM version
4) Up the fit and finish to match the price
The MR is only a link in the chain; looks aside, what do you guys expect Mitsu to deliver to the US?
Think about it.

Take a look at the relatively weak showing of the US dollar. Then figure out what the price point would have to be if SAYC and a fancy inside were added.

evo X bah im waiting for the EVO XVII lol
as for why people buy the MR instead of the 9...it because the 9 isnt here yet...thats why every one bought the 03 EVO because the MR wasnt out. and now everyones buying the MR because the EVO 9 isnt out.
im happy with the 03 EVO...I didnt want leather seats or a upgraded sound system that i plan on upgrading anyways. and once you put a new turbo and suspension on the MR or the EVO its now the same car....oh wait my bad no 6-speed so what the EVO XVII is going to have 10speeds lol

LOL this thread is pointless...I bought an '03 Evo because I could drive it instead of looking at it in magazines...The thing about the Evolution line is that it is constantly changing, and unless your pockets are really deep you can't always have the latest & greatest. People will look back on the MR like they currently do the Tommi Makkinen edition...50th anniversary corvette...etc...well maybe not because is sucking in WRC right now but you get my point...

Mmmmmm . . . . . . . Volta . . . . sweeeeet.
I know that we appreciate our current cars --- and we have thousands invested in them, but for those guys looking to remain competitive on the track --- you can bet that whatever new gadgetry that is on the nine can't just be bolted onto it's older siblings --- Mitsu plans on keeping things that way, or we would NEVER replace our existing evos. We'd just constantly by the new parts on the newer evos ( like buying the 10.5 hotside on the 05's --- but we're screwed on the driveline parts ).
Let's face it, no matter how frugal you are, you'll be tempted to trade up.
