Are there any test pipes out there that look like catalytic converters?

I wanna use a test pipe to free up some power, but I know tickets are dumb expensive here in NY/NJ.

I'd rather not gut out my stock cat, plus I need a 3" pipe.


Also whats a good inexpensive 3" test pipe that I can get? (gonna mate it to a HKS downpipe and HKS Hi-Power exhaust)


Any suggestions?

There are 'tuner shops' around that will weld "heat sheilds" on a 3" test pipe at the request of the customer. Just ask around.

 

Do you know of any shops off hand that will do it?

Do you think TURBO TRIX could do it?

 

anybody with a wleder would be able to. i have seen it done on a few other cars before. looks legit even. find some podunk exhaust guy and ask him. he probably would.

Yeah that works and all but some cops might tap the cat to hear the filliment.

 

Well for as much as I disagree with test pipes (I don't think Cat's are that big of a deal for the risks) a Cop would likely be unable to tell the cat was "empty" by looking or tapping it.. all cat's sound hollow when you tap on them.

HOWEVER they could likely tell by the smell of the exhaust if they are trained or are car enthusiasts.

Ya know, I always wondered why Street Racing threads aren't tolerated but threads like this, which CLEARLY are shown as intent to break the law are tolerated. Just my thoughts..

Get the UR one. No cel and it's cheap.

 

Call RRE and ask for their "high flow resonator".
