EVO RS A/C Not working

I recently purchased an EVO RS, but the air conditioning is not working. It wasn't working when I got it, and the dealer told me to get a charge (since it sat for about a year), but it does not work. The light comes on but the compressor does not engage. I swapped the relays around and checked the fuse, all is good. Any ideas?

Mitsu took a quick look at it today and said they would most likely have to order a new ECU... that seems a bit excessive to me.

Well it WAS $24k for a brand new EVO, with a full warranty... and I drove almost 300 miles just to look at it.

A/C came standard on all EVOs, including RSs. However this was decided after some of them were already shipped, and those RSs had the air conditioning dealer installed. I believe this is the case with my car, and im positive that it has air since I see the compressor and all lines hooked up. I can even jump it manually by bridging the high pressure switch (no on a 25k car). But I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem and a solution before I let mitsu keep my brand new car for a few days to troubleshoot the issue.

I wouldn't even mess with it. It''s covered under warranty. They'll fix it. Just be happy it went out in December rather than August.

Hehe, good point Steiner, I'm used to fixing all the stuff on my old GS-R and 240 myself and not having a real warranty.

Whoa, yeah mine has the middle "A/C" button and "Max A/C" selection for dials. I just don't get why the light comes on w/o the compressor starting.

Did you check to see if you even have an AC in your car?

I wouldn't trust the dealership. Have you check all your fuses and hoses?

I think it's electrical, should have dealer fix it. Then again, I don't trust most dealerships to do any sorta good work.

Ah... dilema of life...lol

I don't trust them either, which is why I posted They all went out to look at it, then I told them I wrote the mileage... and walked away, ha.

btw: all hoses, fuses, AND relays check good by me.
