The smoother you shift, the longer the clutch will last. The Evo is difficult for a first time stick driver to learn on because it has so much power and revs quickly. Sounds like you may be giving it too much gas and letting out the clutch too quickly, hence it jerks forward. Try to let out the clutch smoothly as you add throttle. It just takes time and practice.

Sounds like you're "popping" the clutch. In the long term, it will cause premature wear on the driveline componants, (ie. tranny, clutch, diffs)

However, with practice and patience, things will smooth out. Try holding the clutch in a second longer and feathering the gas to smooth the transition between gears.

Adjust your seat a tick closer. It sounds dumb, but it may help you with better clutch engagement/disengagement.

Good luck and have fun. You will be an expert before you know it.
