Do i need to disconnect the battery for this???

Im planning of getting a hks RS kit, but i heard you lose power if you install the intake without tuning. is this true? but what if i disconnect the negative cable from the battery, install it and reconnect it? wont this make the ecu read the new air flow and adapt to it? please let me know if theres any gain/should i do it or not?

You should pretty much allways disconnect the battery when doing installs. You are much less likely to fry something by involuntary contact.

Good luck!

youll probably see a loss (nothing major. 1-2whp at the most) if you are opening up the intake but have a restrictive exhaust. the two should always go together. otherwise you should expect to see a slight gain with an intake but much more can be yeilded with a proper tune

use the search button. there is a thread were there is an 11hp gain with a tuned HKS SU kit compared with a K&N drop in.

I had an HKS RS untuned for awhile and I didn't notice any power loss at all, nothing but gains! Also, you should remove the battery.

i have the hallman MBC and at first i was peaking at 22psi, but i lowered it to 20psi max. So far so good, i havent gotten any fuel cuts and im running on 93oct pump gas and the car is stock except for a greddy type s with the single spring mod. Now i smelled a little fuel when i was boosting 22 psi, i think it was because the car needed more fuel at the boost level. I got a question for those who own the hallman. When i first installed it, my boost wouldnt go past 11psi, and the knob was all the way to the left which is supposed to be "stock" boost. isnt it supposed to be reading stock boost when the knobb is turned all the way to the left? well w/e i was peaking at 11psi so i was like WTF??? after a few turns my bost when from 11 to 22psi and it pulled like a bat outta hell all the way through redline. Did i fix my problem? why was i boosting no more than 11psi with the knob all the way to the left which is supposed to be stock boost not less than stock?? any feedback is appreciated in advance.

Now back to the topic, im planning to get either a hks hi power exhaust( is thi exhaust 3" anyway?) or the buschur 3" catback. But the BR guys didnt quite clear my doubts. They have two catbacks on their website, the scca legal 3" catback and the SS catback. Whats the difference between these two? i know the scca catback is to keep the stock evo catalytic right? but for now i can only afford a catback, if i get this legal one can i install any other cat delete/downpipe later on or it will not fit? or will their SS catback fit the stock cat? im really confused please help

disconnect the battery.
you will not get a power loss, you will see a gain
