ATTN: Vendors & Fabricators - A cheal/effective prodcut that we need!!!!

After working on the Evo's engine many times, I have found that the Upper radiator hose gets Extremely hot (hotter than the Valvecover it seems) and the fact that iit floats above the exhaust heatshield so unprotected makes me wonder if there is a way to avoid this.

Keeping water temps to a minimum is very important to all turbo cars, and I dont see why a nice looking and effective Upper Coolant hose heatshield could be develped.

I have made some sketches and measurements, and it seems like something that is attractive yet functional could be developed quite easily.

ANy input on this?

The egnine torques back toward the firewall at WOT. Wouldn't you want something with a little flex or do the couplers alow enough flexability? Obviously RnR knows what they are doing but I was just wondering.

on that set up the back hose is cut longer so it acts as a flex.

sparcoevo uses a custom al heat shield like you are describing... you don't want to wrap it... cuz it thre's room for heat to escape you don't want to keep it in. but you definitely don't want it to suck up heat there either, although it does just end up going into the radiator and then getting cooled, it's more work and more soak.

i would be interested in a piece like this... but make it out of fiberglass or cf that way you get all the insulatio and the bling factor also. hmmm... i just done gave away a great idea....

Isn't that top hose for the coolant exiting the motor? So it's already pretty hot. And when the vehicle is in motion I doubt the heat it absorbs is significant. BUT, I'd still like to see some before and after tests of whatever the solution you guys come up with. Of course this would have to use temp gauges in the inlet and outlet port to see if there's a change in temperature from what goes in and what goes out.

Good job guys for thinking of something that could make the cooling system more efficient, so don't think I was being negative in the above paragraph...just objective.
