Got rear-ended, need to vent
Hey fellas,
Got rear-ended earlier tonight on 401. Brembos saved my *** but not the guy's behind me. He was in a older model Prelude. My back bumper is messed up a lil and my exhaust is crushed and bent like a ****. I had to work my *** off bending the exhaust so it wouldnt rub the rear tire. I was wondering if you guys knew if I could make it so that I could use the insurance money used to fix my exhaust to get an aftermarket exhaust instead of another stock exhaust? The stock part probably costs close to if not more than an aftermarket exhaust. Is this possible? I think I should be able to get something out of this bull****. Thanks guys.

definitely possible. do all the work through the insurance companies and you should receive a check. the check reflects the price of the OEM part FROM the dealership, which is obviously a lot more than you should be paying for a stock 2.25 exhaust. my friend got into a fender bender, well, a bit more than just a fender bender and used the money to get a c-west body kit because the price for the OEM body panels from the dealership were so much.

Usually your insurance estimates the damage and issues you a check to fix it.
I did this with my integra. Got rear ended and I put Tokicos and Progressive sway bars. I supplied the Body Shop with the parts and they put it in with no hassle.

I remember when I first bought my Civic Si a last year. it got broken into and there was about $1600 worth of damage. anyways. Since I didn't have the loan paid off on the car. my insurance company, actually my parents insurance company. the insurance was in there name, the insurance company issued a check that had to be signed by the dealership and my parents. but the dealership was cool and used difference in the price of the factory radio( on the Si the factory head unit was something like $650) and paid my $500 dollar deductable and did a few other odds and end for me. So anyways, good luck and I hope everything turns out for the good.

Wow... sorry to hear... wife's car was broken into and $3000 worth of damage was done.... A month before that, someone backed into her car at a railroad crossing which cost roughly $1500 of damage... Her car just came up out of the shop (almost a month later) and there's still work to be done. The rest of her stereo still needs to be installed and other odds and ends here and there... Once her car is done, mine shopping cart ins going in for body work... I feel your pain... Good luck in your dillema...
