Anyone else's E-brake light going on when driving?

So it's been getting pretty damn cold here in northern VA. i leave work about 11.30pm, and warm up the car... i release the e-brake and the brake light stays on, even though the handle is all the way down. even if i stop the car and mess with it, (raise and release, repeat) it's still there. this has been happening for about a week now. after i get driving about a mile or two, it goes away. i figure this is a cold weather problem since it doesn't happen in the afternoons/late mornings when i normally go out for the first time. my brake pads are in need of replacement, just been too lazy to get em swapped... but i wonder what this could be?

It could very well be the fact you need the pads.. Im no expert but mine went away when I changed the pads on the lancer.

My e-brake light is also on. It goes off when I raise and lower the handle. I am also in need of new pads and/or rotors.

yeah i have an evo and i had the light come on too...it sucks...the reason is because that light serves as the "your-brake-fluid-is-low" warning as well, and since the pads are worn the pistons in the calipers have more travel. So, they use more fluid and it will look low in the reservoir turning that light on. If you want the light off, add more fluid. but you probably need pads.

no TT... i'll probably swap out the pads next week. thing is, the light's on when i don't brake, just when i start going from a dead stop... so it's not like my brakes are being pressed... but hopefully it'll go away with new pads

thanks for your thoughts guys
