Stock Evo boost level/setting

I was just wondering as to what is the exact boost level on a stock EVO 8. I'm upgrading to a Hallman Pro RX MBC and I just needed to find out.

So I'm looking at 19 psi. Is it safe to say to increase the boost level to 20 psi or slightly more? I will try to do the install myself. Does anyone think that its safe?

I also have a K&N intake system and a custom catback exhaust (2.75"). If any of that information helps.

19 to 20 is safe... the benefit to the controller is that it will keep you from curving down to 15-16 over 5k rpm

So I'm looking at some considerable gains through midrange.

No not really to take into conciteration the 16g is a strong twinscroll Turbo you should not have anything to worry about most piggy back ECU's re route the boost levels to run around 21-22 psi aslong as you dont run anything over 25psi or over for a large amount of time, Also the 4G63 is a very strong engine that is the reason mitsubishi has kept it for so long it can handle high boost, unlike the sti haha .

So with just an MBC you're talking about picking up 20-30hp on the top end? Wow. Pretty nice value for the money. Is partial throttle/full boost (PTFB) a problem on these cars?

how does the mbc work as far as changes in the weather?

i know for myself, i've had to turn my boost back a few times when its REALLY cold out- i'll start hitting 23-24.

do you have to get out and turn down ur mbc? or just not full boost when its too cold!?

i have the greddy profec b spec. so its nice and easy to turn a dial

I would just set it at 19psi since its cold out, if it spikes, it would spike around 20-21.

Mine was set to 20.5 PSI back in July...driving home yesterday in the cool air, I punched it on the highway and it spiked to about 22-23 PSI for a split second, then settled in around 21 PSI...works for me...

The one we just picked up will spike to 23psi then down to about 15-16 after 4000rpms.

At part throttle It will hit 20psi no problem, I'm also curious about the MBC and part throttle boost, most MBC wreck the driviablity for that reason, part throttle boost is too high. On the other hand, not sure this motor cares..

I am using the factory gauge and I calibrated it myself, it was only .2 psi off. The stock gauge goes to 1.5 bar, its funny to see it spike up over that to about 1.6 bar. This car is bone stock.... I thought it pulled harder than the 05' test drive car

So...Spiking isn't really a bad thing or not. I'm not racing the motor hardly at all because of all the police in my area.
