Another WORKS breakthrough

Well, our engineers have done it again! Considering they've been working with the ECU the longest, it didn't surprise me In addition to having control of fuel, timing, RPM limit, flow-cut limit, boost and other parameters through the ECU, they now have full control of the two-stage rev limiter on the 05 models. Not only does the control exist, but WORKS has also incorporated it onto the 03 ECU (and the 04 model is up next). That's right, the two-stage rev limiter will be available for all US-Spec EVO models!

FYI - Dyno Flash has been doing this on '05's for about three weeks

From what we have seen so far most customers just want the secondary rev limter removed 100% and out of their '05 so I dont think its something that people would want to add to their '03 - but if any one wants that option I am willing to provide it upon request

Could someone please explain what the "2 stage" rev-limiter is?

I haven't been able to find any info on it...

it's the rev limiter that limits the rev at 5000rpm when the cars stopped.

is this something you could turn it into 2 step?

Al, I didn't know you could do that... I don't see why people wouldn't want it, especially if they drag race.

well in turbo cars, when you redline the **** out of it at without being in gear, you usually see a fireball come out your exhaust, its fun to watch someone else **** up their car doing that, but it's not good for your engine or your turbo, thats what the limiter at 5000 rpm is for. and some other reasons i probably dont know of.

^ ?

they put that there to save the tranny, since 03, 04 people goto the dealership and bltch about tranny warranty after they blown it up with 7000 rpm drop.

It makes sense.

But i wonder if that's like a 2 step or not.

I can see where people would want such a thing. Hell, people have been adding devices to do this on their drag cars since I was a kid...
