I currently have a 2003 evolution. Just last night I was racing and on the way home I noticed my shift from 4th to 5th gear was grinding as I enter 5th gear. I have 42,000 miles and I also have an ACT clutch along with some other bolt on Mods. I am pretty sure I need to replace my synchros, but my question is do you think I can get it warrentied, and hgas anyone else got this covered under warrenty. Thanx for any help guys....

 

a friend of mine had his whole Trans rebuilt under warentee...and when they did the warentee work they even put in an Exedy Twin Disc for 50bucks...maybe this had something to do with knowing the service writer personally though... i think you should go make friends and give it a try...he saved himself about 2 grand...

oh yea....then about a month later he blew the Transfer Case....that was also warentee'd...so thats prolly a total of 5-6k in warentee parts

my car has 17,000 on it and my 5th gear synchros are going when i am going into 5th. i nolonger have a warrente with my dealer.

 

I had mine warranteed at 4500 miles . I have 23,500 now and no issues.

 

I heard that Mitsubishi had a recall on the 5th gear gring see if they will good will it since they know they have a problem... I replaced mine with 6k now have 12k with no problems

 

I had 5th AND reverse replaced under warranty (27k miles) but the shlep mechanic failed to notice that the clutch was nearly fried--after we specifically discussed that it might be a good time to replace the clutch since the trans was dropped--he said the clutch was in good shape. Fast forward 4 months, car's now on a lift getting it's clutch replaced. Man, I hate dealerships. Sorry for the rant on your thread.
