Santa Monica Mitsubishi in Calif............
I was wondering if anyone knows whats up with Santa Monica Mitsubishi. I drove by and everything was closed up and there were notices posted everywhere saying "The service department will be closed until further notice". All the new cars are gone and the place is deserted, also nobody answers the phone.
I remember sombody here saying they worked there (Robert) and I know a few other guys bought their Evo's there.

I hate to say there going through owner transition. Unfortunatly the Owner was mismanaging money. So Mitsubishi has taken the dealership. I has currently been sold to the Sulivan Motors group. They currenlt own VW, Lexus, Toyota, and Audi in Santa Monica. I for see promising things for the Santa Monica Mitsubishi Location. I used to be the Floor Manager there. I'm currently working at Glendale and Union Mitsubishi. If you need service I recommend Union Mitsubishi. They are the most knowledged on the Evo. The the service manager will work with any Evo owner, even if they have Mod's. If you go there ask for Gerome, tell him Joe Hill sent you and you are a EvoM member and he will work out a discount on any labor.
It' kind of unfortunate because Santa Monica sold more Evo's than anyone esle in the US.
But they should be going strong after the new year.
I'll keep you up dated.
If you need more info PM me.

Thanks, they were a great place to buy from. I got mine for $500 over invoice when everyone else was selling for $$$ over MSRP. My 30,000 service is coming up soon and I will check out Union Mitsu. Thanks Joe

I went there when i was going to get mine. and they were a bunch of duesh bags. they were trying to get something ridiculous like 38k for the regular evo 8 . not mr. and wouldnt negotiate. playing games like writing numbers on papers and having me guess one that i would like to pay and then not being able to do it. THEY SUCK. so they got what was coming to them... Hope the next people will know how to treat customers

Ya, when i went to SM Mitsu to purchase my Evo, they had a $15k markup over sticker on the showroom floor. I asked the salesman what he was smoking. Also, socalevo.net members do not say many pleasant things about the service department. Hopefully with new management in place, the dealer/service dept. will be more Evo friendly.

When I stated above that I paid $500 over invoice I should have mentioned that it took me over 6 hours to do it and a lot of head games. It will probably take a while for the new owners to rebuild their reputation.

Mitsu dealers are closing all over SoCal. Torrance, Long Beach, etc. and now Santa Monica. I think the story about the dealer doing something dishonest is BS. Mitsu North America is on the verge of chapter 11 bankruptcy. The only car they can sell is the EVO, and that's a low volume niche vehicle that can't save a company.

Example: There was a sight noise coming from the tranny when the clutch was depressed. It was hardly noticeable. I took it to service to have them take a look at it. Turns out it was the throw out bearing. Not only did they replace the throw out bearing. But on the service test drive the notice a slight grind shifting from 3rd to 4th gear. So they replace syncro's 3 thru 5. The service manager also notice a couple of burn spots on my clutch and it was about 50% gone (ok I burn the clutch a couple of times) sense the tranny had already been drop he offered to replace the clutch. All I had to do was pay for the parts. So all in all from a small noise from the clutch i got a new syncro 's 3 thru 5, transmission fluids changed and a new clutch assembly for a little over $350.

.
I also talked to the service manager at Union and work a discount to all EvoM members. When you go to get you car serviced ask for Gerome and mention that your an EvoM member to get a discount off the labor.
There service # is 213-368-1900

Mitsubishi is too big to shutdown. They got $4.7 billion to help them out of their last hole. They will do it again.
