That evo with the mivec shouldnt be out till the evo x from what ive read and seen. The evo nine is currently being tested and it has the 4G63. The GDI in the mivec looks to be something very interesting in the ways of tuning. I am looking forward to these new developments. But from what it seems the main reason for the MIVEC in the evo seems to be for a more cleaner and efficeint car

The IX is not going to have a full on MIVEC turbo setup, just Variable inlet cam only (not mivec), 20% more torque at 2000rpm. I say get a nine

I kinda hope the 9 doesn't get mivec. or any moderable changes, because that would mean I would have to wait for new parts to come out and a bunch of other crap. I've decided not to cam my car untill I find out more info of when the 9 is gonna be released. If it is released this spring, summer, or early fall I'll just wait and sell my 8 for the 9. I love the looks of the 9. I hope we get the back bumper that there showing on it right now. it looks like the 10 is when they're gonna be doing all the drastic changes. the way things are going. It looks like the 9 is gonna be the last evo I own. if the 10 looks anything like the concept pictures.

Just Imagine MIVEC on the evo, WOOOOOAAA. The guys @ RRM said that mivec on the turbo RA does wonders and helps w/ HP and TRQ outtage across the whole power band. I driven in the turbo RA and after 3500rpm when MIVEC kicks in and boost comes on, the car goes NUTS!!!

mivec on evo's going to be a bit different than the mivec on lancer.

i'm hoping it wont have a set point cam difference, rather would have a infinitely variable valve timing, so it'll kill the lag somewhat.

imagin what that would do to gas mileage tho...at crusing speeds...gas will go like nothing

I will wait the 9! I appreciate engines with variable cams. More torque, better off the line performance (saving the clutch), smooth top end, fuel economy.
9 specs: 300PS and 41.8Kgfm at 3000rpm.

mivec is bad i had a ralli art before my evo and once that differnt cam timing kicks in the car gets it. read some posts about RRM's turbo ralli art its supposed to be insane, I had considered getting the turbo kit for my ralli art then i test drove a evo and my choice was made.

No it won't. It is also based on throttle %, airflow and other variables.

Is it the MIVEC that makes the difference or is it the fact that the RA has a 2.4L with a longer stroke? The increase in displacement can account for the improved spool. The longer stroke would account for some of the improved torque.
