OIL Change

Contrary to popular belief -
you don't have to change your oil after 500 miles.
It doesn't hurt the car and can only be good for it - that's why people do it.
Cars are built to such exacting standards now-a-days - that it's not needed anymore.
Do change your oil consistantly to pro-long the life of your car though...

I change my oil at 5k miles. I've never had any engine issues. Don't waste your money and change it at 3k miles. Conventional oil and synthetic have came a long way from what they used to be. Trust me you will be fine at the 5k mark.

It just depends how much work/money you want to put into your car. It's really up to you whether you change it now or later. It prob. won't affect it that much in the long run, but it won't hurt either. Personally, I think it's better to be safe than sorry, but it's your choice.

Change it as soon as you feel it necesary, an early oil change certainly won't do any harm and if you choose to run 5-10k on the sythetic oil just change the filter in the middle of your service interval. If you're driving the car like it was meant to be driven you should have to replace the tires about the same time as the oil change

because that's what Mitsubishi recommends in the engine. Not too long ago Mitsubishi had always recommended 20w-50 in all of their engines if the temperature outside was above 32*F. This info can be found in any older factory service manual, even for the EVO 1-6.5
