Why don't we stop guessing and confusing the people here. Genax, the Porsche 997 S is not a AWD and as far as I know Porsche has not made a V6 engine yet.
Porsche 911's had 4 cilinders and 6 flats(boxers)
Porsches 924's and 944's had 4 in lines
Porsche 928s came with V8's
Porsche Boxsters 4 and 6
Porsche 911's (964, 993,996 and 997s) came with the flat six's
The Porsches 912's and 914's are a 4 cylinders as well
Last but not least the Porsche 968's came with a big 4 inline as well
So please lets be more precise when we speak.
Addressing the main question, I think that overall the Porsche has a much better chance to win. The power deliver on that car and the massive tires makes one of the best Rear wheel drive cars around. I can only see the new 05 EVO side by side on the 0-60 but that is it. The Porsche better aerodynamics makes it a winner for high speed rolls acceleration.
Whenever Porsche launches the new 997 Carrera 4S that will be a different history, then the Evo will have less chance of compiting.
My last cars:
from 98 April-2000 June Stealth R/T Twin Turbo(AWD)
September 2000 to May 2002 Porsche 911 (964 Carrera 4AWD Cabriolet)
September 2002 to October 2004 modified 430hp WRX(AWD)
Begining October 2004 05' EVO MR

yeh, porsche's got traction control with launch assistance and it'll shift a lot faster than our primitive 5 speed.
Porsche will win, unless that evo's got a bigger turbo to go with that Intercooler and suspension setup.
I wanna see what that yellow evo's got under the hood.

Thannks Yall .. Its a RWD 355hp version .. I know a stock EVO wouldnt stand a chance but for the $110,000.00 he paid for it I want to @ least show him he didnt gain to much from a dig ... and with no space for golf clubs either lol

The new carrera S is pretty impressive. it's rated at 355bhp at the flywheel, but i personally witnessed one put down 312 at the wheels on a dynojet. that 's about the same as a 996 GT3 which is rated at 380 flywheel.

$110k???? He could have gotten a GT3 for that...or a damn clean used TT X-50! Did he get some crazy individual options like carbon interior bits, extra leather etc?

i think the 997 would take the prize but there are a number of other factors like cost. If i put that much money into my evo it would smoke the 997, beside the insurance for a young kid drive a 997 would be through the roof
