3rd Gear random Grind....

2003 Evo with 31K on it. Bought it from a dealership with Samco IC hose, HKS Intake, Turbo Back Exhaust, and Dealership put a Brand new Stock clutch in it. Everynow maybe about 2/3 the shifts, it will grind ever so slightly, im talking like maybe a 1/4 of a second's worth of grind. (yes the clutch is alll the way down) It seems if i pause a extra second or 2 after depresseing the clutch it shifts perfect everytime, but if i clutch and shift in a normal time frame it will do the grind thing. Any ideas? Am i doing something wrong? Anyone else experiance this? Dealership maybe mess up the clutch install??

Thanks
Sean

Bad synchros are a problem in the EVO. Which gear(s) it affects is pretty random Dealer replaced my 3rd gear synchro under warranty at 2k miles. Your car should not grind in 3rd at any engine or tire speed with the clutch fully depressed. Go get it fixed!

I recently noticed my EVO was doing the same thing with the 2-3 shift. I'm not worried about it because I'm probably getting a new tranny soon anyway.

I agree bad synchros the only other thing would be the clutch but you are not making too much horsepower for the stock clutch. So i agree
