I get a nice static jolt almost everytime I get out of my car as well. I think it depends on how dry the air is. I also heard someone mention that we just need to ground ourselves before getting out like on the shifter or something.

Ground yourself before you get out by holding a metal body (roof, door jamb) part before your feet touch the ground to stop the shocking. When its cold I get shocked everytime I get out.

its the seats I believe...i get shocked everytime i get out of the car. The only time I don't is if I am wearing my leather jacket. Its not that big of a deal, but i'm sure you could spray some of the downy wrinkle release crap on your seats if it bothers you that much...it has anti static agents in it.

This has happened more to me with every car in CO than when I lived in FL...leads me to believe it happens more in dry climates...it also happens more in winter when it's even less humid here...

it's not that big of deal, just shock yourself b4 you feel up on gas by touching the door with the back of your forearm (less nerves = less pain)

There is a neat JDM gizmo we saw on a few cars I have tuned which is a grounding strap which hangs from the rear and rubs on the ground which is supposed to elmiminate this problem

I get shocked every day without fail, just part of the car. Stop, shut it off, take key out, step out of the car, get shocked, close the door.

I don't think grounding the car will solve the problem. The static charge on you happens as your butt slides off the seat, then touch the car body. If you hold the door frame as you get out, there is no shock. You can sit in the car, roll down the window, and touch the car body and there is no shock. You can get shocked if you just rotate your butt in the seat and touch the metal of the car. Try it, it's fun!
