18 bucks for Mobil oil. 1 quart

The Mobil oil that I get here at Autobacs in Taiwan is imported from Japan and it cost 18 bucks a quart. 10w 30 Japanese Mobil synthetic oil is the same ones my dealer uses. I am thinking of using Mobil oil from the US which is half the price but not sure which one to get. There seems to be a lot of synthetic Mobil oils out there so if you know which one would work let me know. I see all these crazy synthetic blends like rally formula, race formula..etc. BTW do you think 18 bucks is a rippoff? If you have a link or picture of a type of Mobil oil you use it would help a lot. Thanks

$18/qt is ****ing ridiculous. I pay $4.80/qt for mine. Mobil 1 10W30 "Super Syn" full synthetic. Here is the link from Mobil 1:

Here is a picture of the old bottle. The new bottle looks the same but it says "Super Syn" instead of Tri-Synthetic.

So your saying any Mobil synthetic oil is ok for a turbo car like the Evo? Does the Evo need any special oil besides synthetic?

BTW how is Amzoil? They sell them here but I dont think its that popular.

'Regular' (if you can call it that) Mobil 1 10W30 Synthetic from WalMart is what comes with the car. You don't need special 'race formula' or gimmicky fluids like Amsoil that is only sold here and there (Please Amsoil fans, don't chime in with "I've run Amsoil and I love it." If it was so great, it would be a normal product not something you sell door-to-door, but whatever that's just my opinion.) Don't waste your money, Mobil1 synthetic is good proven fluid sold in major international markets. I trust it more than any oil.

I meant Mobil 1 synthetic oil purchashed from Walmart. But anyways thanks for the tip, im going to grab some Mobil 1 oil imported from the US.

But I found this and do you think this would work? Its for european cars Now what differences does that oil have compared to other Mobil 1 oils? I guess its just the same like rally and racing formula, bacisally the same stuff inside.

basically as i see it, mobil one is the benchmark of synthetic motor oils. sure there are a few obscure names out there, like amsoil, and deep purple, but if the car came with mobil 1, and it says i need to run mobil 1, then i am just going to do it. its crazy that you are struggling to get it. at www.costco.com you could probably buy a case, and ship it to Taipei, and still save money. good luck.

Derek... Mobil one is the stuff... there is only one... where and how you purchase it will determine the price you pay.. it is in fact the full synthetic recommeded by Mitsu for the Evo. I get if for about $5 a qt. here in Ca ("CAL UH FORN YA", Cali is what girlie men call it) in 6qt boxes.

converted to US dollars its 18 for each quart. I am gonna get US Mobil 1 for about 8 bucks a quart. Nothing I can do... shipping to Taiwan would cost about the same after you add all the cost.

i agree..keep it simple....get the oil the dealer recommends.....that's $90 ($18x5) you could save and use on parts......and it'll last longer than 3000k miles.....

That would be quite a good deal. I usually pay about $20 for the 5 quart jugs at walmart. Are you referring to the 5 quart jugs?
