Well traction is going to be his biggest problem. You don't have anything to worry about for a while.

sorry we were posting at the same time, we are really wanting to go at it but we are waiting for him to get his **** together. but that also gives me time to handle the rest of my tuning. he is using all stock firebird gearing from that year. the only difference is motor and tranny (th350) I think

I actually a total of 3 old 350's heading hunting me right now (1. 73' nova with 350 full interior and strong running motor claims to have 350hp but he is only running same mods as mentioned earlier, 2. 67' Firebird running 350 as well with intentions of running the novas mods and finally a 69' firebird running the pontiac eqv. of the 350 and completely stock )

the 69 running the pontiac eqv. of the 350 got demolished and has vowed revenge

I would put it this way. Starting from stock I would say that if you both put 1K in performance parts you would win. If you both put 2K it would be quite close. If you both put 3K or more I would say you're in trouble.

Yeah if you want to take the traction problem out of the equation, start the race at 40 MPH. Then you'll see who's car is faster.

I'm not trying to make you lose, and I don't think you will. It just takes away excuses. Consider it.
