Will EVO ever be available in Canada?

Can ANYONE AT ALL tell me whether or not there is any real likelihood that we will be seeing the Lancer Evolution in Canada within the next 3 years?

If so, I will hold off doing any serious modifications to my car and save up.

I'd save up anyway if i were you. It's not worth it putting so much money onto a sentra

I thought Canada couldn't have it because of the FMIC?

When I was in Vancouver, BC I saw an advertisement in the yellow pages that said "Come see the 271 hp Lancer Evolution" so I would imagine you can already get one.

Not worth it, how?

Do you mean in terms of performance-per-dollar? In that case, I think maybe you're right, my car isn't really one of the choicest platforms for mods.

Or do you mean in terms of resale? If that's what you mean, you're definitely right. It's practically never worth it.

"Oh Canada"

They sell SRT-4's in Canada that come with stock FMIC's.

There is two in Vancouver both yellow. The one you saw the ad for is at the dealership I bought my car at, the guy who owns it snuck it here before they said you can't bring them here. I would expect the EVO 9 to start selling here.

From what I've heard, you can buy one in the states, put an aluminum tube in place of the FMIC, get it certified that a frontal impact will no longer cause thousands of dollars in damage, then replace the FMIC after you get it into Canada. I believe the reason they didn't certify them was because of insurance cost reasons not safety. The FMIC is too expensive to replace.

Yeah from what I've heard you can bring an Evo8 into Canada but you have to modify the front bumper to limit front impact damage. The same holds true of cars like the skyline, you can technically own one, but you have to modify it to be street legal. The evo9 should be up here hopefully, when I talked to my dealership they were even saying they might get the evo8 GSR up here.
