Had a GTI VR6, and later 1.8t NB. VW cars honestly have more solid feel from the doors, panels and everything around you with this solid pocket rocket feel, while evo feels more economy car with lots of lower qaulity plastics around you except the recaros. You will feel more wind and road noise and more rattle compare to vw. Other than that, everything is much better and you will feel what handling is that you missed in a vw. You would laugh when a GTI owner with koni tells you the car is on rail.

73 volkswagon beetle POS that I bought not running with tons of rust for the sole purpose to destroy it. I got it running and then precided to crash into things for the hell of it , I turned around and sold it all F***'d for 200 bucks less than I bought it for I had a blast destroying that little POS

Traded my chipped, H&Red Wolfsburg 2001 Jetta for for the EVO as family car.
- EVO has more room for child seats in back.
- EVO has much better seats than the VW sport seats
- EVO much more fun to drive & obviosly faster
- EVO much easier to work on.
- EVO looks too ricey (had to spend close 1K making it look more civilized).
- Jetta had much better interior.
- Jetta felt more solid - EVO feels more like a tin can.
- Jetta way better on gas mileage (300 miles to a tank on Jetta vs 200miles to a tank on EVO)
I still have a VW Corrado and I have as much fun in it as the EVO even though it is slower (100 less hp), it is only 2wd (due to LSD). But I had to do a lot of costly upgrades to get it up to my liking level, unlike the EVO where stock form is just how I like it.

Had a extreemly clean '84 A1 GTI, (white rabbit). Loved the car, totaly modded, but a sleeper. 16v motor, TT suspension/Tokico, the works! I still miss it, but it can't compare with the performance of the Evo.

I had a 92 passat 5speed, 97 GTI vr6 5spd and worked at a VW dealer as a parts counterman for 2 years. VW/Audi has really gone down hill in reliablility since the 90's, man do they make some stupid decisions. Anyways before I start ranting, go for the Evo. The only thing I liked about the VR6 was the torque and it made real good fuel economy if you stayed out of the throttle on the highway. Things I didn't like about the car were handling (its a tall box with 4 wheels) and something always needs to be fixed on it.
