so i'll stick with my reasoning... AWD.... maybe someone else can chime in and give more of a accepted answer
Part of the reason why the Evo is so much heavier is the AWD system. If the Evo was FWD then it would actually be a faster car, but traction would be awful. The AWD system robs more power than a regular RWD or FWD drivetrain would. So, switching to FWD would actually put more horses to the ground and make the car lighter. The reason the Neons run relatively slow 1/4 mile times is their lack of traction.

Yeah, for such a round car the wings actually look pretty sweet on them, kinda like those mean rally beetles...

I have owned both. The EVO is definitely quicker and more fun to drive, on the street, and especially the racetrack, where the awd gives you an advantage to come out of the corners faster, because you can hammer the throttle while you are unwinding the wheel. Try that in a 350Z and you will swap ends for sure.

Sorry guys, I agree the 350Z is much better looking, and a chick magnet too.

Aparrently they are going to make the new skyline 2007 yr out of the G35 Infinity body. Personally I think the old style rocks so y change it? I Hate teh Upwards Headlights. The Evo's Headlights are soo much more sexy. However I do liket he G35 taillights.

Hey Richard EVO, funny that my name is Richard too, how can you say that? The EVO looks way better! I think that the EVO turns heads. There's not really a car that looks like it in it's class(well except for the STi, but it looks a little bit too cartoonish). It looks fresh in my opinion. The 350Z just looks like an almost "almost" Porsche. Hood vents are always cool. The 350 better points I think is just the cockpit and the stock sound of the exhaust. And the EVO's a total chick magnet too(except for mine cuz I have no radio and I always get complaints from guys and girls)!

You can only see SOOOO many Z's drive by everyday. Anytime someone catches a glance of an EVO their head snaps.

Example. A year ago or so I was driving down to Naples to visit my girl. Never ever saw an EVO in this area before..except one night down 75 I spotted a yellow one so to make a long story short I nearly totalled my car by flying off the road staring at the EVO. Then when I got there I told her the good news lo;p

the awd is what gives the evo a great 1/4 time. other than that its gearing and a moderately high redline of 7200. the reason why modified evos are faster than modified z's is because the evo is a factory turbo charged car and its motor is designed to handle huge boost loads. the 4g63 is an amazing engine in terms of hp capacity on stock internals. some have upto 600 hp on stock internals.
